5-string Lion head Wilfer/Goetz

This bass was a custom order by a professional orchestra player who picked it up from the shop in Germany himself (I have pics of him with the Gotz family, the Wilfer shop, the person who varnished the bass) and it was his orchestra bass until his death. I got the bass from his family, Lisa Gass reshaped the fingerboard for better bowing and gave it a fresh set up. Belcantos and a Spiro low C on right now.

$14,000 but only local sales (Los Angeles). Sorry, no shipping.

5-strings are just one too many for me (nor do I have any need for an extension) and the neck is too big for me. If there isn't any demand, my plan is to take it back to Lisa in the fall to get it cut down to a 4 string and then I keep it. But before doing it, maybe somebody wants a 5 string. Can't go back once it is smaller and 4 string.

Pictures and measurements are in this thread from last year:

Converting that amazing bass to a 4-string would be a crime.

Well, EOM, only a very small admission fee will help you prevent this crime......

Ok, seriously, I'm in no rush to make any changes yet, but it is an amazing bass and I'd rather play it than admire it. There are lots of people who like thick necks and want 5 strings so it might be a perfect fit with somebody else, just not me.

yes, in response to pm's: Still available and unaltered. And definitely an orchestra bass as is.
