Ok...I am moving out of the country in less than a month and have decided it would be a good thing if I sell my upright basses before I leave. I will be able to post pictures or email them to you on Saturday. So here they are:
1) 1950's Juzek, made in the Germany shop. Masterart series. Fully carved, round back. One of the most beautiful and highly-crafted Juzeks that I have come across. It is in great physical shape - the bridge, fretboard, etc. are set up professionally. Cosmetically, it has its share of nicks and scratches that you would expect from a 50 year old bass. Stunningly beautiful flamed sides (see picture). Soundwise this bass is LOUD and punchy - think larry grenadier. I played hundreds of basses all across the country when I was looking for a new one. I was lucky enough to pick this one up from Willie Weeks(!) and was blown away with the sound and playability. Gage pickup and really nice case.
$7000
2) Unknown early 1900's German bass. Fully carved, round back. Think Christian McBride - both in sound and appearance. Woody, snappy, great low end. Very easy to play. This bass could stand a little work - planing of the fingerboard definately. Comes with a case.
$5000
PICKUP ONLY! Come by (until the July 8th or so) and see the basses for yourself. Here's one picture that someone took of the Juzek at a show I was playing on last week. (you can see a bigger vesion at
