A four-string double bass in a gamba shape with a flat back, gut strings and viola da gamba “C” holes.
The fingerboard and tailpiece are made of plain figured maple.
The tuning adjusters are of ebony or boxwood.
This instrument is convenient for continuo playing in Baroque or Classical performance practice ensembles.
