The bass is very good for what it is: all carved, not too thin a top; decent varnish; I had Gary Stein (Stein on Vine) put in quality Rubner tuners, an adjustable bridge and a carbon fiber end pin. The bass sounds warm and full and is as good as any Chinese or Romanian bass under $5k. I've play it daily - and taken it to orchestra rehearsals where it got good notices.
I've got Corelli 380TXFs on it now for orchestra, but can put on a set of Obligatos at no charge. It comes with a Kaces II bag. The bass is in LA, but I can ship (extra). I'll add photos tomorrow.
Asking price is $2750.00
Thanks
Louis

Insurance appraisal is for $4000, which is what some dealers (mentioned in pm) sell the basses set up under shop names.

I think so - just to fill in the details - when I went off to be President of Deep Springs College (in the High Sierras) I left my carved bass on loan to USC. I came back a 1/2 year earlier than planned and used this busetto bass as a "filler"until the USC school year ends (in May) when I get my carved de Anda bass back.
Otherwise,I would probably keep this one.For the money,it's quite good.
