Calin Wultur Laminated for Sale

Here is a 2006 Romanian made bass by Calin Wultur. I bought it from Bob Ross in Denver (http://www.rossdoublebass.com/) and I have played it full time since then. I is a plywood bass and very tough and durable but still has an awesome sound that is loud and full of overtones. Here is some info from Bob's website about these basses and how he "pimps" them before selling.

"These instruments are made in Romania and I feel represent an excellent value. The wood though often not visually spectacular is almost always well quartered and the basses exhibit good clean workmanship.

The basses I've brought in have been consistently loud, very responsive with strong fundamentals. These have been very loud instruments which, while lacking somewhat in richness of tone have many of the same characteristics of their carved cousins.

Players are almost always surprised when I tell them the bass they have been playing is laminated. I will usually throw out or modify the endpins that come with the instruments. I usually make the endpin sockets myself out of grenadillo, chechen, or some other dense FSC certified hardwood.

The tailpiece is reinforced where the flexible aircraft cable comes through. The bridge feet are well fit to the top and the bridge is replaced with a better quality one if necessary. Small expansion gaps, filled with colored wax are put on either side of the saddle to prevent saddle cracks developing. The sound post is well fitted to top and back of the instrument.

The fingerboard is completely dressed to eliminate buzzing and the grooves in the nut adjusted so that clearance between the strings and the top end of the fingerboard is at a minimum (the thickness of a business card)."

-Plywood Romanian bass
-Upgraded endpin, fingerboard, bridge, bridge adjusters, tailpiece wire, etc…
-Mixed set of Innovation and Obligato strings: awesome for pizz and slapping!
-Nice medium action and very easy to play
-Has some edge wear, scratches and repaired splits from three years on the road. Nothing out of the ordinary.
-I can include the Fishman Full Circle pickup if you want it.
-Bob is selling these for $2600 right now, I am asking $2000.
-Nothing is wrong with this bass, I just found a vintage one that I like better!
-aaronckeim@gmail.com 720 254 6725 The bass is located in Broomfield, CO
