Calin Wultur Panormo for sale

Hi, my name is Daniel Tosky, and I am a student at Indiana University, located in Bloomington, IN.

I have recently upgraded instruments and am looking to sell a bass made by the Romanian luthier Calin Wultur. It is a 3/4 Panormo model made in 2006. It is fully carved, roundback, and has a "D" neck. It has really opened up over the last few years and literally sounds better every time I play it. I have always used it as an orchestral instrument, but I know that it would be a great jazzer as well. It sounds great in the hall, very punchy and loud. Did I mention that this bass is LOUD? In my opinion this instrument compares very favorably in terms of sound production and tone with many basses that cost $10-20k. I took all of my college auditions on this instrument. I am looking to sell it for $7,000, including a quality Bobelock case in good condition. Pictures below.

Thanks,
Daniel Tosky

Is this bass far superior to the other Panormo models that that luthier makes? I played a new one at a shop that was selling for $5500. What makes this one worth $1500 more?

quality points for Calin Wultur

There are at least 3 different levels of quality and price when it comes to Calin Wultur models. This one looks like it's from the middle level. It looks to have been kept in very nice condition.

There are several factors in my pricing of this instrument (which is negotiable). I think the sound of the instrument contributes in part to the asking price. I have also had the top taken off by Nick Lloyd of Cincinnati in order to repair a weather-related crack and had the bass bar re-glued, as this may be an issue with some Wultur basses. This will also come with a Bobelock case. Feel free to ask any other questions about this instrument.

I should also say that those pictures are from when the bass was brand new in 2006. I can provide current photos if requested although the instrument has no cosmetic damage other than the wear that occurs on plated tuners and the usual nicks around the c-bouts.

Thanks,
Daniel

Four years of playing-in may very well be worth $1500.00 sound-wise and acclimation wise.

Yes, this instrument is still available. If there is not much interest here in the near future I am planning on taking it to the Cincinnati Bass Cellar - so I'm willing to budge on the price in lieu of a consignment fee.

Thanks,
D. Tosky

Bump for a great bass. I own one of these and I've gotten compliments from everyone who's tried it.
