Carved DB for sale in Chicago *NEW PRICE*

The bass that I'm selling was made in Romania between 1999 and 2001. It's a fully carved flatback with a 3/4 string length (41"), a modified 7/8 size body, and an Eb neck.

The bass is strung with Flexocore strings and its somewhat larger body size contributes to very good arco tone and volume, and very decent pizz. capacity.

I purchased this bass from Mark Sonksen, www.sonksenstrings.com in Chicago in 2004 and Mark has continued to maintain the bass for me. These pics are from his bass sale archive:

http://www.sonksenstrings.com/instruments/0467.html

I'm asking $4,500 for the bass. The price includes an Upton Bass Bag (with bottom rollers) which is very well made and in excellent condition.

Mod edit (09-17-10):
Seller's new price:
$3300 for bass and Upton bag. In addition, I will throw in a Bob G. brazilwood bow (french) which has been re-haired, an Ingles stand. and a cake of rosin.

The bass can be viewed and played in Chicago.

Please PM me for more details. In my humble, but obviously biased, opinion, this bass provides excellent value for a senior high school, college, or amateur player looking for a great bass at a reasonable price.

Just noticed that I forgot to mention that, while local pick-up is preferred, I can arrange for shipping at buyer's expense.

Reasonable offers will be considered on this bass. Also, I will consider time payments if you have, and can prove, good credit and references.

I'm lowering the price to $3500 US.

My payment plan offer: $1100 down. $2400 in 12 monthly payments of $200. USA only, please. I'll need some references, your SSN, and may do a credit check.

I've received a couple of inquiries offering trades. Sorry, but I'm not interested in any trades. Also, no sales to anyone outside continental USA unless you pick it up in person and pay cash in full.

Bass remains available. This would be a very nice step up for a serious high school or even college student. Come check it out. Bring your teacher. Make me a reasonable offer for the bass and bag.

All PMS and/or e-mails have been replied to. I'm not able to deliver the bass in person and do not have the facility to ship it, so it will have to be local pick-up. Chicago is a great place to visit in summer. Ravinia, Grant Park Concerts, Lalapalooza, the Cubs (oh well . . .), the Sox, Lake Michigan, the Blago trial . . .

Super Dawgs is near my house . . .

I am reducing the asking price to $3,300 for the bass and the Upton bass bag. In addition, I will throw in a Bob G. brazilwood bow (french) which has been re-haired, an Ingles stand. and a cake of rosin. Everything you need to get started, except a teacher. Limited time for the extra goodies.

Still for sale. $3300 gets you the bass, Upton bag, brazilwood bow (Bob G. french), an Ingles stand, and rosin.

The holidays are coming. Treat yourself or someone close to you. Wouldn't a new bass look great under the reee?

People that have actually seen and played this bass have told me that it represents a great value for the sales price. I've lowered the price substantially to get it to move, but, after two years, it has not sold. Of course, scanning the Classifieds will reveal other sellers with nice basses in the same situation that I'm in. It is what it is.

In any event, if it does not sell in a few weeks here, I might try consignment at a shop. The price will go up to cover the consignment fee.

Wow, that makes me scared to sell my own bass. I'm looking into getting a new bass this summer, and am wanting to sell my old Hofner to help finance my new bass. Sounds like I could be in a pickle!

BB,
If it wasn't for us being in the first year of ownership of our coffee shop I would be all over your bass. I only live 180 miles from you and I provide 5 nights a week of open mic/live music events n my back room. Maybe if it's still available in a couple months I can work something out.
God Bless

Thought I had it sold but the seller backed off due to family issues. So . . . BUMP.

$3,300 for the bass and the Upton bag. Right now, the bass is at the luthier's having a seam glued and for its annual physical. . . should have it back soon.
