Early 1900's 3/4 Carved German Bass

I love my bass, but I haven't been able to keep up my playing in recent years. Although I'd like to just hold onto it forever, it would be a shame to never have someone play this beautiful instrument ever again.

Obviously, given it's age it's had its fair share of bumps and bruises. However, there are no cracks in either face of the bass, and the neck is beautifully intact. There is also some very pretty artwork on the back.

I recently took the bass to get inspected to ensure that the bridge would be at the right level and the edges would be sealed before selling the instrument.

Those who have played my bass and are in a position to compare it to other basses have noted that the sound is deep and full, particularly when played with bow. I have often been told that I was lucky to have such a beautifully constructed bass from such a young age.

I was advised that a fair asking price would be $12,000. However, I am asking $9000 given the market and the fact that I would like to find my bass a good home and someone to play it.

The instrument is located in the Philadelphia region.
