| Early '60's Kay for sale... Hi everyone, I'm looking to get rid of one of my double basses, an early 60's Kay. This is definitely a player's bass, not a collectors piece... it has been rebuilt once (before I owned it) and re-finished. It is blonde now, but apparently was originally typical brown-burst Kay finish. Does not have violin corners.
About 10 years ago I had John Styklunas in Boston put a brand new neck and ebony finger board on it, so the playing geometry would feel better, and it also has a new Gotz endpin. It sounds really great, enough classic plywood thump, with enough added 'class' from the new neck and ebony board...
I will include a bag (not the best, but fine) and a David Gage Realist.
I would like to get around $2000 for this bass, it's what i've put into it. PM me if you are interested, and I will send photos.
cheers,
John
