Early Twentieth Century German bass

For Sale: ¾ German bass Circa 1940 Fully Carved Gamba, Round Back, 41” String Length. The bass is in very good condition. Arnold Schnitzer recently replaced the neck and the instrument plays very nicely. It’s a fine pizz bass with a dark older tonal quality. It bows well also. The only outstanding repair on the bass is a crack on the top, in the area of the bass bar. This repair has been cleated and is stable. It has required very little attention over the 30 years that I’ve had possession of this instrument. Comes with case and Gage pick-up. FYI – The design on the back is not inlay. It is an appliqué and serves no purpose other then being ornamental. $6000.00
Trades will be considered. Any trade would be plus or minus cash depending on the value of the instrument being bartered. I’m looking for a fully carved bass, 41 ½ to 42” string length, darker tonal quality. Will be used mostly for pizz but should bow reasonably well. Must be at least the quality of a high end Shen.
PM or Contact Paul at pkivory@aol.com the bass is located in northeast New
Jersey
