SOLD! Engelhardt C1 FS $900, located around NorthEastern USA & Atlantic Canada

SOLD!

Hi there everyone;

Well, I finally found a fully carved and I'm going down to pick it up on Monday. Thus, my very first bass, my beloved Engelhardt C1 is up for sale. Its kinda premature to be trying to sell my bass before I pick up the new one, but the thing is

I'm going to be in Maine on Monday, December 8th

so I figured I would advertise it now in case anyone wanted to meet me in Maine about it. It'd be really nice to try to kill both birds with one stone...

Of course, I'd be willing to drive a little ways in any direction in order to facilitate a sale, so let me know if you're interested.

Anyways, I'm going to take some good pictures of the bass tonight but for now these will have to do.

As I'm sure you all know, the C1 is entirely laminate. I bought the bass in Boston from a guy who hadn't played it in years. I took it to my luthier who put a new adjustable bridge on it and new endpin (both ordered from Gollihur) and did some work on the nut for me. Its got a fairly standard set of blah Red Label strings on it, but I do have a slightly used set of Spiros I might be able to throw in... or my slightly used evah pirazzis... we can talk about these things.

Anyways, the bass comes with a Glasser French bow, some slightly used Rosin if you want it (I've got plenty, been experimenting with Rosin alchemy lately), and a black simple gig bag with two handles and 3 pockets (one music pocket, one bow pocket, and one other nondescript pocket).

The bass also comes with two bridges (i.e. the adjustable one I had put on, and the original), not that one needs two... but I figure I might as well throw it in with it.

There are some places on the edges of this bass where the finish has been worn off by having put the bass down on its side and whatnot and one spot on the front bottom where a little bit of the finish has worn off as well. I'll take pictures of these.

Other than that, this bass has nothing wrong with it. The neck's in great condition, everything has been given a clean bill of health by my luthier. I've been playing it in the local community orchestra, but I decided to go with carved as a step up so that I can blend a little better with the poor cello players who've been forced to sit in front of me

Entire package (incl. the strings currently on the bass) for $900.00.

Please pm me if you have any questions or want to make an offer on the bass. I'd love to get rid of it before Christmas and I can make arrangements to come down to the states again if need be. Let me know.

Genna.

(note: Pictures taken before I had it in to the luthier so these pictures have the old bridge on. I WILL be taking better and up to date pictures of the bass).

Hi,

I have the same exact model, and have been playing it every day for a year now and must say they can be a really great bass, and not just for beginners.

I think the C1 can be a good starter bass for arco practice, but make better basses for Bluegrass, Blues, Jazz, Rockabilly, and other Americana music styles.

With a good setup they are loud, practically bulletproof, easy to play, and punchy as a drunken sailor. They also amplify very well and make great gig basses for working musicians.

I think your price is fair considering the bass has had a good setup, includes a bag and bow, and extras. Just keep in mind the price of a new C1 is not too far off from your asking price.

Good luck with the sale and I hope the bass gets a good home.

Hey Martyg;

That'd be great, but are you the same martyg who was talking about living in East Texas down in the Lynn Seaton thread? That might make things a bit difficult for you and I to make that happen.

Don't get me wrong, I'd LOVE to sell this bass -- to anyone!

I'm definitely open to suggestions.

And gearhead, you're right, its probably too high.

how about 900. Does that sound more reasonable?
