I have a 1940 Kay bass for sale (Third year of production). The SN is 6791 which is written on the label (which is marked K. Meyer--one name Kay used in the early years of production) and hand-written on the back. This bass is in excellent condition for the vintage--no neck repairs ever--and comes equipped with an adjustable bridge. The only thing really out of the ordinary with this bass is someone glued a strip of wood across the back on the inside. I have no idea why as there are no cracks anywhere. This will make someone one heck of a bass, I am only selling it because I recently acquired an American Standard and this guitar player doesn't need two basses. Email me at
guitarist112@yahoo.com for more info and some pics. Asking $2800. I would consider a trade for an Acoustic Image Contra along with some boot.
