FS: 1949 Kay Swingmaster -- "SOLD"

This has been my main axe for the past 12 years. It’s been great, but it’s time for a change. I’m 6’6” and need something bigger, like a Cleveland.

The endpin was replaced with a nice one from Lemur, the tailpiece wire was switched to a steel cable, and the bridge was upgraded with adjusters added.

I’ve kept the chipped edges repaired over the years, but you’ll see a few spots that need attention in the pics.
Currently, it has Labella blacktape strings, but I’ve used Spirocores and Obligatos (with much better results, I might add) too.

I use a Realist or Underwood into a Gallien Krueger 1001RBII and an Acme Low B2 for some serious jump blues tone.

My bandmates in the Messarounds will kill me if they find out I’m selling the big blonde, but I’m in one of those gear-changing moods.

I’m in the Detroit area, so you can swing by the crib or one of our gigs to check it out. I’ve shipped uprights via Yellow Frieght before, but it has to be to a business address. Don’t know what I’d ship it in, but as Teddy Kennedy once said, we’ll drive off that bridge when we come to it.

Asking price is $3,800.

I've only done one transaction here (bought my GK head from TBer didier), but you can check my 100% feedback on ebay (also as thejumpcat).

There are lots more pics here:

Are any basses moving now or is the economy just that bad?

It is a great bass, but it's time for a change. I need a little more neck. This Kay has seen a lot of smokey Detroit clubs. It's not really blonde; that's nicotine.

Played this through a GK micro combo last night and it sounded great! Whenever I get frustrated with equipment and put it up for sale, I play it and love it. Nevertheless, it's still for sale. Some tire-kicking so far....
