German Bass For Sale - Reduced Price

If you're looking for a bass with that aged, authoritative, dark sound, this is it.

It is a German-made instrument at least 100 years old. It's of
Gamba style, with sloping shoulders for easy upper-register access.

Features:
dark brown varnish
adjustable bridge
42" string length
New Obligato strings installed June 12, 2008

The bass has undergone many repairs during its lifetime--both on the body and the neck--but all the fixes are solid, and there are no open seams or buzzes.

Exquisite tone, especially with the bow: would make a superb solo instrument with its clear, ringing treble and rich low register.
Ideal jazz instrument as well.
Plays and sounds evenly across all strings

Previous owner played it for 12 years with some of the world's top jazz artists.

I bought it just within the past several months, but must sell due to financial need.

With today's airline madness, I will only sell locally--in the Los Angeles area.

Asking $8,000.

German Bass For Sale - Reduced Price

This bass was listed here for $8,000 a few months ago.
A prospective buyer vanished, so the bass is again available.
I've reduced the price to $7,500

It's approximately 100 years old, and has had numerous repairs. The neck was broken but the repair has held for over 7 years.
The bass, a gamba, has a 42" string length, an adjustable bridge, a dark varnish, even tone across all the strings, an authoritative pizz sound and a resonant arco sound.

The bass and I are in Los Angeles. If you are local or headed this way, let me know and I'll try to send photos.
