| Hungarian bass for sale in Tokyo
3/4 violin cornered round back.
Certified by Kolstein's of New York to be French circa 1960 but probably Hungarian or Romanian of a later date.
Bought from Kolstein's in 2004.
Immaculate condition, no cracks.
The top table is a two-piece plate of spruce. Back is two-piece plate of flamed maple. The ribs are of matching character maple to the back.
Neck and scroll are original of slightly flamed maple.
Gears are newer Italian style by Kolstein. One of which rattles and needs to be replaced. The bass itself is in perfect condition.
The sound is deep, dark and even throughout.
The original varnish is a medium reddish brown.
