This is Albert Jackstadt’s first bass, made in June of 1989. As you can see from the pictures it bears little resemblance to his current models, but is a beautiful instrument. While this bass may not have the sheer force of volume that more current model Jackstadts are known for, she is also less aggressive (in a good way). Don’t worry, this instrument still produces plenty of volume, and is blessed with a more gentle refined sound, dark, but still singing. One of my favorite things about this instrument it her versatility. She holds her own in a section quite well, but also has a wonderful sound for chamber music and small ensemble playing. This instrument can really hold down a rhythm section, even with orchestral strings she delivers a nice thump with plenty of pitch and sound. Made of poplar with a string length of 41 5/8. This bass has served me well for over 10 years and I’ll be very sad to see her go, but am selling to fund the purchase of another instrument. Asking price is
$15,750.00.
