Here's a double bass made for KC Strings and bought at St. Louis Strings in fall 2004. You will also get the Realist pickup that is installed and working, a heavy-duty case, tow bows and rosin. The bass was played in high school orchestra for a few years, then for a semester in college. Since fall of 2007, it has barely been played but always kept in good conditions and never abused. Through the f-holes, you can see the made for KC Strings sticker.
The bass case is padded in all the sensitive areas (bridge especially). There are several handles, backup straps and rolling wheels on the case. There's a water stain on front bottom right of the case, but no mildew/mold/smell. Tons of pockets, too. The two French-style bows are nothing special: one was the high school's and the other one came with the bass and barely got used.
The bass is 3/4 size. As far as I know this is a carved, solid wood bass. My apologies, I do not know what kind of wood. Some measurements:
-String length measured from nut to bridge: about 41 inches
-Upper bout at widest point: about 18 inches
-Lower bout at widest point: about 25 inches
-Height from scroll to unextended endpin: about 69 inches
There are a few aesthetic "flaws," but absolutely nothing that hurts the sound quality of this bass. The pictured dent is the worst of it, and it's only about 1/2 inch long and not deep. The dent is on the side of the notch where the neck meets the shoulders. The top of the scroll has some paint from a ceiling or two. Nothing major. On the player's side of the upper bout, there's a little patch that is textured from belt buckles. It kind of smoothed over. There's no deep scratch at all.
We bought this bass for $3,500 before adding the Realist and case. I'd like to get at least $3,400 for it, but
I'm open to offers.
I'm selling this due to a change in hobbies and an upcoming relocation to the West Coast.
Please ask any and all questions. Thank you!
