KC Strings Richard Williams Series Bass

Hello,

I'm selling my KC Strings Bass. It is a Richard Williams series bass. It kills me to do this, but I just don't play it anymore. Here is the information about the Richard Williams Series basses from KC Strings' website:

The Richard Williams instruments are made with a higher level of craftsmanship from European tonewoods. The instruments are tonally graduated and treated with our proprietary sealer and oil varnish. The acoustic effects of the wood and finish treatment allow these instruments to vibrate more freely for increased tonal maturity that is required by accomplished players.

These instruments are partially crafted at our affiliated private shop in Romania from seasoned European wood. They are then shipped to our shop rough and unfinished. Once these instruments are at K.C. Strings, our professional craftsmen do the finish work on them which is more extensive than on the R.C. Williams line. The more complex sealer and varnish allow the instruments to be extremely resonant and beautiful. They are given a professional set-up by the craftsmen in our shop. These instruments work very well with intermediate and advanced students.

I bought this bass about 3-4 years ago. I had it appraised back then for $9500 dollars. The reason they appraised it higher than all their other Richard Williams basses is because....well....it sounded that much better. This bass sounds amazing. Easily can compete with instruments in the $12-15 grand price range. And it sounds even better now that it has been played thoroughly over the years. This bass is in amazing condition. No cracks, scrapes, or chips. Only the usually side wear from laying it down, and even that is minimal. When I bought it I also had Anton (the head luthier) make me an entirely new finger board. Not a replaning or something of the sort, but a completely new fingerboard. It goes all the way up to a high E. This brings me to my next point. I have this bass set up as a soloists bass. The action is low, I have medium Corelli Tungsten strings on it, and the fingerboard is extended. The shoulders allow nice clearance for upper register playing. I also am a Rabbath student. Therefore I have KC Strings "Peg Leg" endpin on there. I also have the Carbin Fiber endpin to go with that endpin attachment. I'm quite tall 6'2", so you should be able to cut it down to your size if you are shorter. Also, it can be taken off and exchanged for a normal endpin. Here is more info about the endpin:

I'm selling it with a Reunion Blues 7/8ths bag. These bags are top of the line. They retail for over $500. The only thing that would protect it more would be a flight case. Here is more info on the case:

So if you are looking for an exceptional bass at an great price with a bunch of high quality upgrades and accessories, look no further. If the solo setup is not your thing, no need to worry. This bass will sound just as good set up as an Orchestral style bass. Just throw some thicker strings on it, raise the action, and exchange the endpin for a normal straight endpin. Also, if you are a jazzer and do lots of pizzicato playing, I am too. This bass sounds surprisingly good for jazz.

So to sum up: You are getting the Richard Williams Bass (which sounds even better than your average R.W. Bass). This comes with the "Peg Leg" endpin attachment and Carbon Fiber endpin for Rabbath style playing. Also comes with a completely handmade finger board by Anton that goes up to a high E. Also you get the top of the line Reunion Blues Bag. Please contact me for further info, or if you would like to try it out. My number is (913) 244-4310. SERIOUS BUYER INQUIRIES ONLY PLEASE. I'm asking $10,000 for the whole thing. This could be slightly negotiable, but not by much. I'm located in Kansas City.

Thanks,

Zach Rizer

It really is a great bass. I love it. It tears me apart to sell it, but right now it is the best decision for me. Hopefully in a year or two I will pick up another upright. Just don't have the time right now.

Bump with pictures.

To be honest I'm not exactly sure. It fits in the 7/8ths bag like a glove. So I'm gonna guess 7/8ths. However something in my memory tells me it is has a 7/8ths lower bout and a 3/4ths upper. I could find out from KC Strings for sure for you though if you are interested. Or if you live near me your welcome to come see for yourself.

And bump.
