King Mortone bass for sale

Hi,
I'm selling my old bass. Information at link below

http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-s...QAdIdZ70213685

King Mortone double bass for sale. Made in Cleveland, serial number 4389 (depending on the web site you look to, this dates the bass as 1951 or 1961; one site lists this serial number as 1941). The bass currently has gut strings and has been used extensively playing rockabilly. The bass has been well-used and has numerous marks, and cracks from use. There are no top or back cracks. Bass underwent a major repair last year, including cleaning/repairing of a previous neck break, planing of fingerboard, new nut, bridge and soundpost (all done at VA Hill strings in Calgary). That said, I make no guarantees on the bass and it is being sold as is. I've owned this bass for 20 years or so and have played it across the US and in Calgary. $1500 or best offer. Includes bag and bow. Located in NW Calgary.

I'll be darned. I had a white King bass from the 60's through the late 90's and always wondered if there really was a King brand of basses, or whether someone had just slapped a sticker on it. But the sticker on mine looked the same as yours. It had a German (thick) neck, and it was a good dance-band bass.

Thumbs up F Y I . . .

The HN White Company manufactured King as well as the American Standard basses.
