Kolstein Shop Bass Violin
3/4 Size, Gamba Shaped, Round Back
Made within the shop of Samuel Kolstein & Son, Ltd. c. 2006
ASKING - $5500 (or $5200 without the reunion blues case)
I paid $6000 for this bass in 2006. I need to sell this bass as soon as possible, and am willing to negotiate on price. It was appraised at $8000, and purchase includes a black Reunion Blues bass case ($500).
This bass sounds nice and punchy in the lower range, and sings in the middle upper register! I have attached a couple of pics, but PM me and I'll send a link to many more!
•Top table is a two-piece plate of medium vertical grained spruce
•Back table is a two-piece plate of moderately figured maple
•Ribs of matching maple to that of the back table with outer moldings adjoining the top and back tables
•Scroll and neck are original of slightly figured maple
•Brass German plate tuning gears
•Varnish is deep reddish brown
•This bass is a previously made Kolstein shop bass that, although, just completed, has been stored in the extensive Kolstein archive of basses for well over 35 years. This may be a contemporary bass, but has a true aged appearance and tonal qualities to match at a most affordable price.

•Overall body length: 43 3/4 in.
•Width at the upper bout: 19 1/4 in.
•Width at the center bout: 14 1/2 in.
•Width at the lower bout: 25 3/4 in.
•Mensure (string length): 42 in.
