Hi. I'm a left-handed bassist in the Boston, MA area. My first bass was a Kay (pictured below), I think from the '60's or so. When I bought it, I had it converted to be set up left handed (reversed the bass bar/soundpost, new bridge, new nut, reshaped the fingerboard). Played on it for a while before I got my current bass, hardly ever play it anymore.
I'm looking into getting a travel bass, and if I have that as my secondary instrument, would have no need for my old Kay. Also, I know old Kays are highly prized instruments; but my design and set-up preferences lie in the other direction (mainly, I prefer a thicker neck).
The bass has a rosewood fingerboard, but I bought an ebony fingerboard a while ago from Gollihur and never put it on; you can have that, too. It's set up well, has (old) Thomasticks on it, and sounds, well, like an old Kay. I could throw in my Underwood pickup, too, if you like.
I think this bass could be great for the right player (though I know there aren't many lefty upright folks out there, so my market is kind of small).
Anyway, if you're interested at all, get in touch, and we can talk $ & such. Thanks,
Let's set the price at $2,500.
Greg
