Left handed spruce top, maple sided flatback upright bass for sale. ¾ size, D neck. There is a stamp inside the bass that says Sisak making this instrument what is commonly known as a bohemian bass built circa 1920, in Croatia.
The bass was restored by Gerard Samija in 96. He removed the top, tore out the old bassbar and put a new one in on the correct side for a left-handed player. The multiple cracks in the bass he repaired using linen and hide glue. The bass has been very stable, no cracks opening and it stays in tune quite well. I eventually replaced the fingerboard with a fine piece of ebony from Lemur music.I have yet to have the neck dressed, so there's a ton of wood there (and no bevel for those interested in re-converting it back to right handed.) Currently it has Tomastik spirocore strings on it that need to be replaced.
