1 set of Pirastro Obligatos -$50, I used these strings for about a year. they still look fine to me. I don't know their life expectancy but I went back to Spiros.

1 set of Tomatiks Spirocore Mittell (mediums, they are red at the top and bottom) $60 , I've had these strings for about 4 years. They last forever and they still sound great and have a lot of life left. I have switched these strings a lot of times on several different basses so the ends are pretty worn although I think these strings still have quite of few years left in them.
