| Low C strings I have a couple of pickups and low C strings for sale. I might be interested in a trade for another type of pickup, maybe a magnetic one? Let me know what you've got. First up:
Fishman BP-100. I bought it used, not sure how old it is, The pad inside one of the clips is getting a little goofy, but it still clips on okay, and I can include a little piece of foam that could probably be glued in as additional padding. Works fine, just a little bright on my bass/for my tastes. New these are $150, for this one: $60 shipped (in lower 48) ***SOLD*** Second:
David Gage Realist pickup. This was also purchased used, and I think it's an older version, but I don't know what the differences are. I think the jack may have been replaced (it's a slipper metal jack, as opposed to the thick black one that comes on them now). It's either an older version or a replacement jack, not sure which. This one also works well, just a little too dark (lots of low mids) on my bass. These are $196 new, $100 shipped for this one. ***SOLD***
Third:
Dominant low C string (for 5ths/cello tuning). I bought this lightly used and have never installed it on a bass. These are $104.25 from Quinn Violins, I'll sell it for $40 shipped.
Last:
Belcanto string that I used as a low C, but I think it might actually be intended as a low B string. (Label refers to it as BC65, if that helps.) I got this one used as an experiment to try on a little Engelhardt bass, but it didn't sound good on such a short scale. As a result of being installed on the short scale, it's no longer stiff on the top few inches of the vibrating string length from the string being wrapped around the tuning peg. I'm not sure how much this will affect the sound, but I'd imagine that it has some effect? Anyway, new these are $83, but I'll sell it for $20 shipped given the limpness. Might be worth it just to explore the world of 5ths tunings.
I've taken a few photos of the pickups, so just send me your email if you'd like to see them. Thanks!
