Mathias Thoma MT-4 for sale

This Bass is in great condition. I went to a music school with this instrument as my main bass. Two years of which as principal of the university orchestra bass section. It is one of the best MT-4s I have played. Romanian Spruce top with Ebony purfling and laminated Maple back and sides. Ebony fingerboard, nut, saddle and tailpiece. This instrument was last set up by Bill Merchant in New York, a new soundpost was cut for a better sound quality. Before that I had the bass set up by David Gage's shop and the endpin upgraded to a brass collared, sharply pointed heavy duty pin with a removable rubber stopper. New tailpiece wire as well. The bass has a small nick in the finish on the right shoulder and normal playing wear. It has been played and well broken in. Extremely warm tone with good response. I am asking $2,500 for the bass, gig bag included. I will ship the bass but, I would ask buyer pays the shipping cost. It is available for you to see and play if you live in a neighboring area.
