I found that the manual for this was very helpful in making it more user friendly.

It's not really a set-flat kind of amp, but I got a straightforward modern-but-tube-warmed slightly scooped tone that I was happy with. How did I do it? I set it just like the "demo" setting in the manual.

What made me sell it? Same as this seller. It *was* a little on the complicated side to use while doubling on DB and also running the PA FOH and Monitor mixes....

If I had been gigging only electric, I believe I'd still have the amp.

Props to the seller for to-a-fault honesty.

Actually I 'm not selling it because of it's tweekness--
I like it for that -because you can dial a variety of sounds-
For: upright, 6 string fretted or fretless, etc
as I play all three.. and generally use either the upright or fretless with my fretted bass at the clubs.

And I m trying to warn folks it does take time to dial in
your sound.. not a plug & play type of amp.
as you noticed too.

By the way the scooped sound is modeled after Ken Lawrence's
basses- as he did some consulting work for them at that time
and recommended the amp to me.

I 'm selling it because my job sitution.

I work for DHL and they are going to be laying off 9500 people next year: Mainly a lot of delivery drivers & hub people in Delware.
I am not one those folks affected yet ..as I work in international not domestic -- but might be there will be layoffs in our area too..
so I 'm trying to plan ahead ..

That's a tough situation. Good for you for being willing to part with some gear in the name of preparedness. I wish you luck to go along w/ your wisdom!

I wouldn't say that the amp has any extreme scoop to its sound, only that the "demo" setting in the manual (available in a PDF from the mesa site) was sort of a standard, modern moderate scoop tone.

I always ran my DB through my rane pre and the board, and never really played around with the Mesa. You're making me think that I should have messed around with the DB possibilities before letting mine go.

hang tough with the day gig Dennis, it's gonna be a new day with a new president soon. . . . .

Thanks guys!
The 2000 also has compression too-which is good keeping the sound tight as sometimes
the bass waves can too " woomy:
I do to try maximize my equipment- so its multi-functional- so I don't have to carry so much stuff
around from gig to gig. Especially when I drive a little Toyota.

The 2000 's previous owner was Tim Haggerty- Terry Haggerty's brother ( Sons of Champlin).
Who plays keys & some bass. He kept it great shape.

Dunno about wisdom- maybe paranoia??
Just trying to be prepared for the unknown next year.
So I ' m trying sacrifice a few things:
Some few obscure & rare Jazz LPs too,
an F bass in local Craig's list,
maybe the Sunn 2000S (which I already have a buyer for next year),
one of my french bows.. trying to decide which one ?
and so on..
