I cruise the LA Craigslist regularly and keep seeing a Messenger Upright every week (with the price dropping a little each time). The listing price is $1450 (w/ soft case, flight case and tripod) for a great bass. I happen to own one myself! I am not sure which model this is, but if this is the DLX it is like $2k off the new price.
Full Disclosure: I know NOTHING about the bass or the seller, buyer beware!

FYI, i have seen an NS design pop up fairly often too, so keep on eye on LA craigslist if you are in the market. I wish i had the $!!!
