| Superflex low B, several high Cs and obscure Hoefners SOLD A new set (unopened) of Thomatik Superflexibles, orchestra gauge (not solos) $100
- my vote for best around string, bows very well, pizz is great. I have some on one bass and have enough spares to last me years, so one can go. Old packaging at the old price (rather than the current $130). They feel not that different from weichs to me, although objectively have higher tension.
- Unused Hoefner 3/4 bass strings, E, A, D. Can't tell you anything about those, don't know how they sound, where or when I bought them. The fact that there is no G suggests that at one point I urgently needed a G. "Preferred for its tonal qualities, ability to stay in tune, unrivaled durability", "Hoefner, the name that stands for quality" it says on the package. If they say it, who can argue with that? Surely they must be some overlooked super strings? At least I had that package long enough that they weren't made in China. $20
- new unopened Superflex low B, $35 (versus 47 at Lemur)
SOLD - new unopened Flexocor high C, $30 (versus 41 at Lemur)
SOLD - superflexible high C, as good as new (used for maybe a week), $15
SOLD - used Obligato Mediums(red winding with black spiral at ball end, brown, red, black, green top). Took them off a bass I bought, was told they were Helicores put on last year, but I say they are Obligatos. Very good shape, clean windings, look almost new, although clipped silk ends (that means they were installed on the bass and somebody cut off the excess silks). I don't know how old or new they are, but I don't like synthetics, new or old. $30
SOLD - Corellis Medium G, D, A, minimal use (a few hours at most), clipped silk ends, but otherwise good as new. You like twang? Those are the strings for you! Too much twang for me (so I took them off quickly). $30
and an almost matching Corelli E (almost because it's the solo F#). $15
or make it a set for $40.
