New Standard “Cleveland” plywood bass for sale. Purchased new from luthier Nick Lloyd in November of 2006: includes Pecanic compensating tailpiece (walnut), Fishman Full Circle pickup, and Upton deluxe bass bag (the brown one with wheels—quite handy once you get the hang of them). Bass is in as-new condition, except for the fact that it has been “played in” (and it opened up quite nicely). The nut is cut for gut strings on the D and G, and I will include either Kaplan Golden Spirals or a combination of Pirastro pizzicato/Labella Goldentone strings for the D and G (all plastic-wrapped gut, and very similar).
The bass plus add-ons and accessories came to almost exactly $5000.00 (and a 3+ month wait) when new. I am asking $4000.00 for the whole package. I won’t ship it, but I will arrange to meet anyone halfway within a reasonable radius of 47401 (I’m four hours from Chicago, St. Louis, Columbus). If you’ve been eyeing the Clevelands, here’s a good chance to try one out and get it without the wait.
I don’t have any pictures yet, but you may visit Arnold Schnitzer’s site for the official info:

My Myspace page has a sound clip (it’s the track “Bass Blues”) and a video clip, both of which are more representative of the amplified sound than of the acoustic sound:

The bass is also heard on the track “Impromptu2” at:

I will try to get some pictures soon. Please email me or PM me with any questions. Thanks!
PS To answer the inevitable question: I am selling this bass because I have been unable to sell the more expensive carved bass for which the Cleveland was a low-cost replacement. It’s a long story, but if no one buys the other bass (which is a great instrument) I need to sell the Cleveland and take the other one back from consignment because I can’t afford to keep both. (Baby on the way, huge monthly payments on my main axe, low-paying higher-ed job, and so forth.) I love the Cleveland and would prefer to keep it and not the other one, because the scale length is the same as my main bass and because it offers a kind of old-school vibe that my other bass does not, but it’s getting down to crunch-time and I figured the reputation of the New Standards is such on TalkBass that this one might find a home.
