Was going to use this for smaller gigs, but the project I'm in now plays larger rooms than the project I left, so it's of no use to me.
Old school USA made SWR. The amp section is warmer sounding than more recent SWR's due to the tube-pre amp. Quite loud for it's power ratings. The previous owner upgraded the stock PAS speaker to a brand new Eminence BassLite NEO 15" (the latest version from Eminence).
I also have the original speaker. The original owner said that he thought he may have heard something weird with the old speaker but also said it could be fine, he was not certain as he was a drummer and was mainly looking to try bass and also lighten the weight of the amp. As for the new Neo speaker, I must say it works VERY well in the combo. I looked at the specs on the Eminence and they appear to match up well with the cab volume, porting, etc specs. The speaker projects well and no farting, etc.
Only difference is, the stock speaker was 8 ohhms and the new one is 4 ohms. The amp is actually rated down to 2 ohms, so the load is safe and the amp is actually putting out a bit more watts at 4 ohms and it's louder than with the stock speaker. The combo is also a LOT lighter. Prob weighs about 40 lbs now. It's a lot of combo, volume, etc in a 40ish lbs package. Only minor issue is the dust cap in the middle of the new speaker has a dent, but it effects nothing and the rest of the speaker is not damaged. The dust cap is just what it says it is, protects the middle from dust, so a dent in the paper cap has no negative effect on anything. No rips, tears, or any other issues with the new speaker.
Prefer to try to sell her local first (Baltimore, DC, No VA, South NJ and DE and PA). I'll then consider shipping. $375 for this killer combo (the new neo speaker alone was $125 and it and the old speaker are both included in the $375 price)!!!!.
