Carved bass in distress that needs a good home.
I got it from a student years ago, who kept tightening the strings, despite these huge cracks opening up, wondering why she couldn't get it in tune.
There is a mean sound post crack, and several other cracks in the top-while the rest of the bass seems healthy. The neck was bolted on at some point in the distant past, but it seems to be holding.
Now, the top is off, and it needs a complete restoration. However, I'm not in a situation to be able to afford the work right now, and I can't stand having this thing just sitting around any more. Someone should repair and play this bass!
It would be a nice instrument if it was restored properly.
I'd like to get 600 for it, but if this is something you want, please email me at
awbass@gmail.com and make an offer. I'd also consider an interesting trade. Seriously, if you want it, please contact me. It needs to go.
I've got pictures. Just email me and I'll send them.
Bass is in Gaithersburg MD, but I'll meet someone in Washington DC area, give or take 50 or so miles to make sure it gets to a good home.
I will not ship this bass.
Comes with a canvas bag, the bridge, tail piece, and sound post (for what they are worth).
here are some pictures. let me know if there is something in particular you would like to see, and I'll take another picture.
And here are a few more.
