Pfretzschner 3/4 bass for sale in Los Angeles *PRICE DROP*

NEW (lower) PRICE:
$5,500
I bought this c.1940 German-made, carved, 3/4 bass in 1980.
It has been bowed daily for over 30 years, recorded on dozens of CDs, heard in countless performances throughout the US, and taken to Japan three times and Thailand twice.
It bears some superficial, cosmetic blemishes, but it is structurally healthy and musically mature. It has been maintained over the years by the best luthiers in the West, including Bob Daugherty, John at World of Strings and Lisa Gass of LA Bass Works. It was Lisa who recently installed its new ebony fingerboard.
Specifically:
- "G.A.Pfretzschner/Markneukirchen" is stamped inside.
- height is 72";
- upper bout 20";
- lower bout width 26";
- rib depth 8.5"
- string length 42.5"
The string length is the reason I'm selling, seeking a bass with a shorter string length: I am shrinking in height, but the bass is not....
(Trades considered.)
The top is a tight-grained spruce; back and sides are maple. It is set up for jazz. Bridge has adjusters.
A fully functional, respectable, professional instrument.
A restoration would double its value.
I will include a student-level French bow if you need one.
Not selling cover, bow quiver or pickup - just the bass.
Legitimate buyers only; no cashiers check scammers.
More photos available upon request.

Price: $6,500 $5500

Looks like a nice, well worn bass.

What's the price?

Price should appear toward the end of the ad as $6,500 $5500.
Verily, she is "well-worn"; someone who is into restoring basses could enhance her appearance and probably thereby double the value.

*BUMP*

Reduced for quick sale:
to help pay for another bass I found with a shorter string length.
Will miss Pfrieda the Pfretzschner - you don't just blow off a 30-year relationship without a tinge of regret - but know that she will provide someone else with another generation of venerable service.
