For sale: fully carved Romanian Troubadour II flatback double bass with 41” mensure, adjustable bridge, Goetz endpin and a KC strings C extension (only C and E stops shown but currently all stops but Eb are on and all stops come with the bass). It is pre-drilled for a Laborie endpin also.
I purchased this bass from Violins Etc. in Austin a few years ago as a step-up from my first bass. It has served me well as both a jazz and classical bass, though I rarely play jazz. Currently it is strung with superflexibles for E and A, and original flexocores for D and G, whereas the pic shows spiros. The realist pickup shown in the pic is not on the bass now either.
Here are a couple of sound samples of the bass:

The bass setup was done by the UNT school luthier while I attended jazz camp. It has scratches on the back of the headstock and the left side of the bass from being placed on the floor and having been bumped against walls, but they are strictly cosmetic concerns. It has been treated as a bass for performance and practice.
I am asking $2750 for this bass. The gig bag I use for it comes free as does the bow quiver.
If you would like the realist pickup to come with the bass, I can throw it in for an extra $75. Also, a French Ary brazilwood bow that I bought about 8 years ago can come with the bass for an extra $300. I find it a good French bow, but I did not use it when recording the arco demo. It offers a darker, slightly more muted sound and is much more friendly to brigher strings such as spirocores IMO.
I will not ship this bass, but you are welcome to PM me and we can arrange for you to inspect and try it if you reside in or visit the Austin area.
Thanks!
Johnny
