For sale:1974 Anton Schroetter bass in need of repair

I'm offering this up for a non-bass playing friend that left an old Schroetter ply bass at my place (I think to get it out of her place....). No financial interest here and I've got too many other new instument backordered to devote the time to this one to work on, so I'm passing it on...

1974 3/4 sized plywood bass, bassbar has come loose and the top has collapsed, has lead a good life- plenty of battle scars and wounds. The real treat with this is the neck- it has a nice, thick full sized ebony fingerboard in great shape, a good factory neck with no cracks or breaks, and the original brass machines. An adventurous type would get a pound of hide glue and Chuck Traeger's book and have it back together in three weeks; for others it is a great neck replacement with a free body attached.

It is in what I would call "just barely playable" state- you can thump on it and make some noise, but everything is out and it needs to be fixed. Comes with all the fittings and a set of Helicores on it.

This is a local pickup only. While you are here, I'll gladly give a couple hours of consultation on the repairs and you can play my new bass and likely see a bunch of others in similar disrepair. This might also be a great carcass for someone interested in carving their first solid top and attaching it. I can help you out in that area also.
