Bass Pod Pro xt:Bypassing modeled cabinets

Hiya-

Just got the Bass Pod pro xt on monday and ave been messing around with it a bunch, so far i'm pretty happy.

I got a chance to hook it up to my power amp and a SVT 4*10 x 15 cabinet last night and I was suprised that the Pod's speaker cabinet emulation could not be defeated. I looked around in the manual, but couldnt find any info about if it was defeatable or not.

Anybody have any info on that?

thanks for you help

Ian

Hi Ian,
Yes it's quite simple. When selecting your modeled cab just keep turning the dial until it says "no cab". I think Line 6 did this so there wasn't such an abrupt volume change when turning off the cabs. You can do the same with the amp models as well to use the Pod as more of an effects device.
Hope this helps,
Brent

Hi Ian, Brent & forum others.

I too have the XT Pro. I was under the impression that the 1/4" outputs bypassed the cab sims?? I'm sending to the 4x10 Hartke hydrive and I also do not want the coloration to the cabs.

Any input would be appreciated.

THX, Marc

Hi Moose,
I only had the Xt Pro for a short while but I'm pretty sure the 1/4" outs have the processing. At least one of them does! I think it may say "effected out" or "to amp" something like that. There is one 1/4 out or in that is used for reamping when recording that doesn't have the processing on it which is an input I believe. So you will probably want to turn the modeled cabs off just like I instructed Ian.
Hope this helps,
Brent

Hi Brent and others!

Brent, I was fairly certain that switching to "Live mode" enabled the 1/4" outputs to bypass the cab sims while retaining to the XLR outs to the board. That's my interpretation of the info from the manual. Am I wrong??

Regards,

Marc

Hey Moose,
Yup you are right.
The difference between the "Live" mode and "Studio" mode is that in Studio mode is that you will have all of the processing on your signal, i.e. modeled amps, modeled cabs and mics and AIR or the room ambience. In Live mode you are bypassing the mics and AIR but still have the modeled amps.

Hey Brent,

Question: Does it seem that the XT Pro, with all it's features and adaptability has been "put to the side" as current trends (e.g. lowDown , Live XT, X-3) have taken the forefront?? What's up with that?? I fail to understand how trends (e.g. less amp model choices, limited effects voicings etc. etc. offered in high wattage heads is appealing to the professional bassists?? Chasing trends in my opinion... I would like to have improved amp models (i.e. advancements in clean modelling-Aguilar, eden etc) offered as well as refinements in simplifying the operation of the unit as well as MORE than 64 pre-set locations (IF BEHRINGER can offer 128....What the hell???). I would like to have increased flexibility/ease in setting consistent output levels through pre-sets(including amp sims) allowing for me to tailor pre-sets to my basses...This includes active and passive pickups.

LASTLY (my rant is concluding)... I wish for this to be packaged in a BASS POD that it rack mountable..Not an "all encompassing unit..I'm a bass player). Oh yeah, I love the X-3 option of bi-amping completely separate rigs BUT Holy Griggin', how clear is this really going to be through Front of House..Common y'all...... (yeah I know, recording benefits aside.....).

Thanks,

Marc

I hear ya Moose!
I've had every generation of Bass Pod except the X3. I thought they were sooo close on the XT Live. All the models on the XT and XT Pro and in one footswitchable unit?. All it needed were a few tweaks here and there. Then out comes the X3 and the upgrades for the Xt stuff stops. I would have thought it would be cheaper for a company to upgrade an existing units software then to create another, but...
Kudos to Rich though for trying to get some better perspective from the bass players around these parts though, and to be honest I've played through a lot of Line 6 stuff and it usually sounds terrific with some tweaking.
Sorry didn't mean to rant.
Brent
