From the Line 6 manual:

Quote:
The MODEL connector gives you the fully processed Amp+Cab+Effects+Mic signal generated by your Bass POD XT Live. The D.I. connector gives you a time- and phase aligned, unprocessed version of your signal.

Its an amazing engine of a pedal. I have spent hours working on patches with great success. My biggest finding is less is more. Too much of anything seems to detract from the sound. I am very happy with it!

There's a workaround for this very "issue" if you need both outputs to be modelled. Insert a dummy plug (or headphones, etc...) into the headphones jack. Modeled tone then gets tossed through the DI.

also, if you can, use the Line6 Edit or Gearbox software, it is excellent for some deep tweeking.
