bass POD xt pro clipping

the input clips when using my passive P bass. there is no headroom at all on the input and the output is very low with no headroom either. i have the drive and the channel output maxed.

help? suggestions?

i use the xt pro strictly for the effects but right now i'm looking to replace it because it just kills my tone and can't handle anything i plug into it.

If using for effects only... Are you patching into the effects send\return of your pre-amp (or stand-alone amp)??. Give more info please.

P.S. Don't expect a lot of "support" from the "powers that be" at this site..They are more interested in supporting new product..Believe me.

yeah i should have provided more info...

i have the line 6 in my chain going straight into the preamps. no effects loop in my chain.
