Enough already, Line6 ! Where is the Bass Pod HD 500?

I'm about to spring for a backup X3 Live because I'm gigging with it as my preamp. As I stated in other posts, I use a QSC 1804 and two 4 ohm Schroeder 1210Ls for the rest of my rig. Before that I was a big fan of the Bass Pod XT Live.

The used prices on X3 Lives are actually inching up ever since they were discontinued. I bet a buck-two-eighty they'll drop like stones once you guys release bass models an I'll be stuck with two of 'em.

C'mon. Throw this bass model fanboy a bone.

Never happen. I would bet just about anything. They have abandoned bass and are concentrating on guitar. Smart move I guess as there are WAY more guitar players in the world.

I honestly thought that we would see a bass model pack by now. I was wrong.

Yeah but if everyone did that then there will be a massive gap in the low end in music.

Hmmm ... my take is the Line 6 stuff works better on bass than guitar.

I guess there is more money to be made on guitar. Also some bass players are in the "no effects" camp.

There just as many "no effects" guitarists. I think bassists tend to be a little more experimental than guitarists. It's just that guitar wankers out number bass wankers 8-10 to 1. We get the shaft on some new gear but we can always find a gig.

I've been a fan of Line 6 for a while now but I must say I'm disappointed that I can no longer find bass products available now that I want to purchase another one... Looks like I'll be changing brands to single pedals.

[Edit to add] I can't bring myself to do it... guess I'm now looking for a used model.

Hey guys, I am a bass player. I agree. It bums me out as a bass player. I can tell you that we haven't abandon bass players and I am even going to forward this thread to the powers that be.

As stated in another thread... the problem is that once you're ignored repeatedly it means little when someone tells you 'we're not going to ignore you from now on... buy our new product'.

IMHO.

(Absolutely love my M13, M9 and Relay30... just little hope for ongoing support or love for bassists. Seems like there's more movement toward vocalists than bassists)

Again, I agree. I am a bass player and I can tell you for sure we have not abandon bass players. But I can see why that is the perception at this point in time.

HD Bass Models

I would definitely like to see some HD Bass models for the Pod HD, hopefully some Ampeg and Gallien Krueger.

Failing that, some SWR and Mesa Boogie would be nice as well. As soon as Line 6 announces any of that, I'll be at my local music shop picking up an HD Bean without hesitation.

Until then, my Pod X3 will just have to suffer some more of the abuse I throw at it.

LINE 6 another thing to keep in mind is the fact that many bass players also play guitar and vice versa. So if you PO'd a bassplayer looking for Line 6 support etc why would they carry over brand loyaly when looking for guitar gear. I think they would look at other options.

It would be nice to be well versed in using a guitar POD and then using the same know how be able to use the bass version. But it seems that isnt the case any time soon.

This is my current rig. Look at the bottom of the picture. X3 Live and G50.

I would love to see what the HD500 with decent bass models could do.

I'm looking for a replacement preamp right now. I've used my original bass pod pro for years now, since I purchased it almost as soon as it came out. I like the programmability of the pod pro since it allows me to set up instantly available tones for the Ric, Epi T-Bird and fretless 5 string I use during our set, but it's getting long in the tooth and of course you don't get much control over effects with the original Pod

I would really like a bass version of the HDseries, and to experience the greater realism afforded by the greater processing power available.

I realise that I could just go and buy an X3 Pro, but somehow I get the feeling that it is very much aimed at guitarists, with the old bass models from the Pod XT thrown in as a sop to us bassists...do I really want to pay for goodness knows how many guitar biased amp models and effects that I will never use just to get my hands on the XT bass models? If I really have to I will, but not before looking at alternative solutions. I also want a bit more sophistication than the current floor pod and bass heads offer so what choice is there?

I hate to be cynical, but despite the warm words about bassists not being abandoned the reality is that the amp and effects models available to bassists havn't moved on since the Pod XT - hard to believe that we are still considered a viable market by Line 6.

Sort of makes my mind up for me, if bass modelling hasn't gone anywhere since the XT models (other than being dumbed down in the heads and floor pod) then there is not much point in buying any later version of the Pod than the XT, so the only option is to check eBay for a used Bass Pod XT Pro or XT Live - and take a chance on it's reliability.

Seems very strange to be on the lookout for something that's already been obsolete for a few years to get what I want to buy.

Yep. They're not even trying.

I think the bass models were/are better than their guitar models. There was not as much room for improvement. Just go buy a Bass XT Live.

I think the bass models were/are better than the guitar sims, thus much less room for improvement. What features exactly did you want that you cant currently get?

I would love to see a bass specific version of the M9/M13. Something I could leave a compressor and e.q. on all the time and then have a couple of other pedals open with a really good chorus, envelope filter, octave up, overdrive, etc... A model of the Deep Impact would be sweet, since those things are going for $900 or so on evilbay, a moog sound that would get close to that bootsy tone, etc... for chorusing, a Jaco-esque tone...

I have the pod hd desktop and I'm praying for bass models. Some guys say get the x3 if you want bass models but I need both guitar and bass sounds and really the hd guitar sounds are way beyond the xt and x3 technology. I already wrote line 6. Really I'd be happy with one or two good models. On the original bass pod my favorite was the Adam and eve model. But if they could nail the sound of an all tube SVT. An eden or a Mesa 400 I'd be more than happy with one of those. I have a svt 810 and an swr 750 in my garage collecting dust as I'm not in a band at the moment. I even tried running a sans amp RBI with an xlr cable into the mic input On the pod hd but I got a lot of signal spikes without ever getting enough signal for a good fundamental
