this is a line 6 combo question ( guitar) not bass

which is best.

flex 2 , flex 3 , or the vetta combo ( all with 212 speakers) called the XL models.

thanks! im buying a used one just dont know which is best for metal guitar and clean tones both . . .

sold me flex2 hd head a while back, when my guitarist got his vetta 2 head.

You should go to ultimateguitar.com and ask that. Don't you think there's a reason this site called TalkBASS? lmao

The Vetta is supposed to be the best. You may enjoy the ease of use with the Flextone.

"Best" is very subjective. You really need to try them.

If it was me, I'd go with the Flex 3. The Vetta is cool, but there's too much tweaking and menus, submenus and such. Actually, if it was my decision I'd save up for a Mesa Rectoverb.

I own a Duoverb 2x12 combo, Vetta 2x12 combo, and found/played a Flex 3 that a former drummer was looking for.

Flex3 -- I've fallen in & outta love with this amp a lot. It looks great on paper, layout controls are SUPER easy & fast to tweak up a tone. But, the sounds always left me wanting more.

Vetta -- AWESOME!!! But, you will have to tweak some parameters to find 'your' tone. The EQ options can really make this amp come alive. Tons of effects & the ability to create some crazy, stupid, off-the-wall, 'what was that' tones. Sometimes it's TOO MUCH for people & they shy away from it's complexity. Tho, it's quite simple to operate.

Duoverb -- tone for tone in the simplest form, I preferred the amp tones over the Vetta. But, all you get is 2 amps at once & reverb. It's quite a stripped down version - when compared to the Vetta. However, you can usually find a Duoverb on ebay pretty cheap... if you already have effects - or don't use them, this might be a great alternative to the Flex or Vetta.

Hope that helps - if I can help more, don't hesitate to contact me. CHEERS!

Never played thru the HD47... but, I'm sure it's very similar to the others built in that time frame. By the way (and I hope this isn't against the rules) I've got a Vetta I combo with FBV & ATA case.... if you are interested, email me: thejustinhenry "AT" gmail "DOT" com
