Anyone know of any good M13 programming tutorials or instructional videos out there? I'm trying try to get a good grip on it before mine arrives this week. Thanks.

M13 is very straight-forward-simple so I am not sure if it needs a tutorial video. Have you read the advanced manual yet? You can download it from Line6-website

I'm looking it over. Not clear on how to assign which FX functions will be controlled via the expression pedal and which ones won't. Also not clear on exactly how to set the heel/toe pixel points. Also, is there a way to move between folders on the fly or are you stuck with the 12 scenes unless you bend over and rotate the knob to move to another folder/set of scenes?

For the effects pedal:

Plug in your pedal. Move it all the way to the toe position. Set your knobs. Move it to the heel position. Any settings that changed that you don't want affected by the pedal, re-set those knobs. It's that simple. In the menu system, you can also set the effects pedal to not affect an entire bank, i.e. a vertical column of effects switches.

So it affects all parameters if you dont stop it? For all 4 effects in a vertical column?

Horizontal slots happen together... vertical slots can only be used one at a time. Each slot on the M9 and M13 should be though of as individual pedals on a pedal board.

Each slot on the board has it's own complete settings as far as the expression pedal goes. Nothing connects each slot on the m9 or m13... they're just like individual stomp pedals to do as you want. I was greatly over-thinking it when I got it based on past experience with Bass Pod XT's, X3's, Boss's multieffects, etc. Once it clicks that it's VERY simple it then becomes VERY simple to grasp what you can do.

If you want different settings on each you just set them seperate.

Initially I had different Octavers set up, but now I just have different ones for different tonal options and adjust each's amount with the expression pedal.

There is however two modes to saving settings. Initially it will be set up to autosave. Meaning ANY change you make to a pedal slot instantly gets saved. Sometimes thats good and sometimes bad if you change a preset you really like accidentally. The manual save mode means you have to manually save each setting before it's locked in. Which I feel is nice until you get used to the pedal.

Now I have very few problems accidentally changing things. Initially however I'd find that I'd be showing someone the coolness of the unit and start fiddling with different effects and crap and then realize that I just autosaved a bunch of wild effects over top of one of my preferred settings. Now, I'm in the habit of first changing scenes to a dummy scene I never use when I go to show off the versatility of the pedal to someone who's never seen one.

You 'can' also copy and paste settings for a slot between scenes. At least on the M13...

Thanks, that's good info. I'm coming from an Axe-FX by way of a GT-8 so I probably am over thinking it a bit. Do you find you mostly use it in Latch or Momentary mode?

No, it affects whatever parameters the preset was set for. Every effect has a preset, not all presets have expression pedal control on every parameter. It's usually just one or two, to give you an idea of what *can* be done.

For example, distortions might have preset expression control of gain and distortion, while leaving the EQ knobs alone, so as you move the expression pedal toward the toe your distortion saturates more.

If you want to, you can set expression pedal control for all 5 parameters, but I haven't found any effects yet that are set that way out of the box.

Coming from a manual junky ("How dare you try to use something before reading the manual!"), you should really wait till you get your M13.

Just having the unit in front of you will explain a lot of things. And the user interface is genius. Very intuitive.

Once you get a few good sounds, then open the manual for the remaining little details.

Yeah once I got the expression pedal plugged in, it made much more sense. Very intuitive so far.
