M9/13: The precurser to the "next" big multi?

Just wondering. Kudos to finally putting together a system where you can place X effects in any order, with a 2nd or 3rd "layer" for each. Definitely a step forward from the FX chain on the PODs (of which I have owned the Bass xt, and the X3).

Just wondering if you guys and gals are planning on expanding that idea into a "standard" multi format, with like 10-50 modules and 10-12 assignable switches, and 2-4 exp capability. Maybe even parallel chain functionality with split/mix modules.

On/off switching assigned to exp position?

Min/max variable "deadzones" on the exp sweeps?

Blends on the Distortion/fuzz/drive modules?

Can't talk about future products at all.

But I do enjoy hearing what people are thinking.

Just kindof thinking out loud. One thing to remember is if you guys did go with something like this (say 40 blocks with crazy signal routing options ) you're only basically competing with things like the Eventide Eclipse and Fractal Axe-FX Ultra, both of which are ~2000$ with no control board.

Haveing something like the Axe (but with the M's ability to have as many of each effect running as are block to run them in) in a floor board format with buttons that can be assigned to pretty much anything (toggleing or hold down for stuff too) would be a MAJOR leap IMO, compared to pretty much everything.

The one thing I would change on the EXP assigning process is just make it 1 screen where you fill assign slots with what block/param you wanna control, what range you want, and where you want that range to sit (min/max) in the exp's sweep range.

The last thing I will put here is an idea for how to put amp models in there. Use 3 blocks. 1 for preamp types, 1 for poweramps, and 1 for cabinets. So if someone wanted to run a tube pre into a solid state power amp, you can. Or visa-versa. Or even being able to Frankenstein a couple of tube sections together, say the mesa400 power section and the SVT pre?

As for cabinets, my one word of advice is put a "flat" mic in there. The one reason I suggest this is that the POD stuff for bass sucks (IMHO). You got one mic that makes everything sound like dub bass, another that makes everything sound thin, but nothing as a "base line" for how the cabs SHOULD sound. Basically you got too much mic coloration, and not enough cab sound.
