How does this pedal compare to the MXR Blow Torch?

The pedal is a clone of a Traynor TS-50B preamp - comments from the builder...

"...the whole idea behind this circuit is that the gain stage at the end of the circuit is designed to "color" the sound in a way that sounds tube-like when it clips. It's hard to explain but when we put it up on the scope and ran a sine wave through it and turned the gain up we could se the even-order harmonics emphasized in a really weird way. I don't think any other preamps use this circuit."

After reading reviews and looking for a "good" distortion pedal I am wanting this more and more. I like to use this that for a certain growl tone, much like the bassist from Hot Water Music. Though I am a synth kick right now. I just bought the Moog LPF, Moog Ring Mod and a Markbass SuperSynth. Need a nice addition to the list.
