aren't UPS packages automatically insured up to $100?
They may be, but they generally take much longer to deliver and they've lost more than one of my shipments. I find it easier to work with USPS in general.

+1 for USPS. Barring possible size limits, I would use them exclusively... I've never gone missing anything through them.
Honestly, use PayPal, never send a personal payment if you are buying something, and make sure you file a claim on there within 45 days of the transaction date. You'll be just fine.
