Question: is the MIJ OC-2 different than other OC-2's?

It has to be run at 9.6v instead of 9v if you have an old boss, ibanez or dano pedal it will work just fine you can tell when a MIJ boss pedal is underpowered the led is dim.
I used a pedal power where you flip the switch and the boss is peachy keen.
I feel the MIJ is more synthy and vibrant if you look at my old purchases you can see that I have bought and sold OC-2s and an OC-3 and this is my fav.
Between car repairs and mountainking electronics addictions I gotta prioritize.

I have a pedal power 2 plus and it doesn't have an option for 9.6v as far as I can tell... How did you get it to output 9.6v? We can take this PM if you prefer.

I'm fine with doing it here because the information might help someone else out. I learned about the 9.6 switch when I had a Pedal Power Ver 1 I now have a pp2+ and it works the same way the first 4 power jacks when switched will power a MIJ boss just fine. I double checked in a voodoo forum to double check.

Don't the first 4 jacks give 12v when switched? Might that damage the pedal? Can you point me to the forum post? Not that I don't believe you but I'm interested in buying it and I don't want to damage the pedal.

aNaLoG.MaN Vintage Guitar Effects F.A.Q. page

It's about 80% of the way down it has to do with a regulated 9 vs 9.6 which can be as high as 12.

I copied this:
Most older Boss pedals were designed for an unregulated ACA power supply. The ACA adaptor actually puts out about 12V DC, and the old pedals have a diode and resistor inside to reduce this to 9V. When you use a battery in these old pedals, the battery 9V bypasses the diode and resistor so the pedal gets the full 9V. The PSA will not have enough voltage to work right with these pedals. So check your pedal, they originally had a sticker on them telling you which power supply type to use. They also say on the bottom plate if it needs the PSA or ACA. If it says PSA then any regulated power supply (Dunlop, Ibanez, etc) will work. But if it says ACA, then you need to get a boss ACA (ACA120 in the USA) power supply. We sell the ACA supplies also for about $20. The Voodoo labs Pedal Power 2 also has switchable ACA 12V outputs.

I run my MIJ OC-2 on a 9v adapter. Am I damaging it? Sorry for the hijack. Bump for OC-2 awesomeness.

You are not damaging it but you will find a more robust tone straightaway with 9.6

I'll buy this pedal. Build me a blue beard and you will have cash in your account ASAP for both? All I need is a total for both and a preferred way to pay.
