About swap from SWR to Aguilar

Adam,

Great info on this forum thanks for being a resource to all of us. I know you were endorsing SWR for years and have made the switch to Aguilar.

I'm a huge SWR fan but have been thinking of picking up a DB750 to give it a swing. I've heard great things about them. Right now my go to pre is the SWR Mini' MO and my SM900 is always on standby waiting for a chance to get out.

Would you say a few things about the 750 and what made you switch?

I am happy with my tone, in fact I'm getting the sound I hear in my head and have been for years with SWR. I just am wondering, what's out there in the Aguilar stuff that so aluring.

Thanks in advance bud!

hi dsanders!

the DB750 was actually the piece of gear that first impressed me and really got my attention. when i played through it for the first time, my perception was that it had a very musical and dynamic quality to it, with just the right amount of color. it had tons of headroom, and was very sensitive to inputs. the best way to describe it is that i felt like it was more 'alive' than my previous rigs, lacking sterility but still maintaining a balance of accuracy and coloration. my cabinets of choice are the DB series cabs, which in my opinion, further complement the qualities i've just described, although some other players prefer the GS cabs instead. these days i'm using the newer DB751 mostly, but it still possesses those same characteristics, and has an even more usable EQ section and a bit more punch, especially in the lows and low-mids. i also have an AG500 rig which is also really awesome that i use for smaller gigs and also on sessions where i'm miking a cabinet. so far all of my gear has been really reliable, too, and i definitely like to push it hard.

Great reply Adam. I'm buying a DB750 this week and I've been struggling with whether to pair it with a GS or a DB. I love my SWR cabs and have been leaning toward the GS series but you are the second person to tell me the DB is a great match with a 750/751. I'll go with those. Thanks!
