| Thanks Adam! Since this is open I will make some observations on the vids.
First I am an owner of 4 BTBs.
The Vid of the BTB shows that it is a current production Neck Through.
All of my BTBs are Bolt ons, which I believe required some shimm work in order to acheive the 2mm Low B and 1mm G and C set up.
The video show that this bassist playing the E string with the left hand pulling towards the high end of the board. This indicates that his set up is rather high in comparison to the way Adam and I have our set ups. (I checked out Adam's Personal SIG6. Now I understand Adam, THANKS).
So, if you are considering Adam's technique and work, be certain that the Ibanez Bridge will come down low enough to contact the frets to the strings. If not, then super low action cannot be acheived and you will not be happy if shreading is the goal.
The second vid is of a Warwick Corvette copy. Looks Like a Bolt on Neck which can be worked with to acheive the super low action.
For that attribute the Warwick copy is the choice, but my problem with Warwick and where it is so different from Adam's Bass and the BTB is the neck back dimension.
The Warwicks I have held were like baseball bats (i.e.early Steinbergers). For me I prefer Flat backs like the BTB.
If the action cannot be made insanely low on either of these instruments, they might not be for you. They would not be for me, and they would not be like Adam's SIG6.
Overall, I like the BTB, I know and love the neck and the Light wood (Maple or Basswood) core would give me the bright response that I favor.
The corvette copy is just a solid chunk of a medium colored wood, not attracting me, nor sounding particularly inspiring to me.
Feel and sound have to appear together all at once to literally INSPIRE you to play things you never thought possible for yourself.
Peace, Blessings, and Bass |
