Q: Adam's Dojo course - Walking Bass

Sign in to disble this ad
Adam, I was reading the description of your Walking Bass 1 course and thought it might be interesting, but how relevant do you think it is to a "light rock" praise & worship bass style (Tomlin, Redman, Hillsong type of stuff, plus some modern hymn arrangements)? I guess I'm looking at the course in more of a general learning sense, but I'd like there to be some direct application to my playing.
Thanks.

hi mitch!

welcome, and thanks for your post. that's a great question. i would say this... directly, i would say that it wouldn't apply as much, because of the more jazz'ish nature of the course. however, indirectly it would apply a really good bit, in that you would be taught a lot of the more foundation harmonic concepts that relate scales to chords and help to teach you what is appropriate to play over different chord types, etc...

let me know if you have any other questions. thanks!

Hey thanks for responding Adam. I agree those concepts should be very helpful.

Also, funny thing happened last night at band practice. We started working on our holiday songs, and got a couple jazzy carol arrangements to work with. All I could think was "hey, I really need to take that course now!"

If I can swing the time I'll sign up for the next one; if not I'll try to do it early in the new year.
