The purpose of this forum is to have a place where double bass teachers can discuss topics of interest with each other. Teachers may either choose to start threads about their own topics of interest or answer questions or topic requests from "students" (see below). To gain posting permission as a teacher, please PM me with your request, and if I don't know you, please include some credentials or a link to same. I have to process each request for permissions through the admin control panel, so please be patient once your request has been made.
1) Only teachers can start threads. The teacher who starts a thread can either give out information that they'd like to share, request input from other teachers, or both. Teachers may also create threads to answer questions or respond to topics posted in the "Questions/Topics" sticky. If one teacher has created a thread to respond to a question or topic, other teachers should chime in on that existing thread rather than create a new one. To gain access as a double bass teacher, please send me a PM. You can then post your qualifications or a link to same in the "Who the teachers are and why should or shouldn't I listen to their advice" sticky thread which will be created momentarily.
2) "Students" (i.e. - non teachers) may not post new threads in this forum, but may ask questions for clarification within existing threads, hopefully not taking the threads off topic. If a non-teacher wants to solicit the advice of the teachers here with a new topic or question, please post your question in the "Topics/Questions" sticky thread in this same forum.
3) Moderation: hopefully, not much will be needed among the teachers. That said, I will play the part of primary janitor and gentle reminder of the overall forum rules should conflicts arise. If the thread in question is one in which I am already a participant, I will recuse myself from direct moderation and ask for the assistance of other mods/admins to weigh in and take any moderator action that needs doing. For this reason, I ask that "teachers" and "students" alike refrain from arguing divisively in this forum and stick to the more helpful format of discussion and exchanging of ideas. There will be many times where teachers will have to agree to disagree. Remember that this forum is an experiment at this time and try to make it a positive experience.
I'll need to revise the rules as situational troubleshooting presents itself, but this should be enough to get us started.
