¿Slapping?

Sorry, I know a kind of dumb question, but... how do you slap on a bass?

its not a dumb question at all. i might have trouble explaining but- take ur right hand, extend ur thumb,come down with ur hand in sort of a arch onto the string. i hope this helped im just having trouble putting it into words.
