1 Hour Chuck Rainey Lesson?

Sign in to disble this ad
I see where Chuck Rainey is giving special lessons at bass Emproium for $85 an hour. I'm just curious about what anyone would study with him for one hour. I guess I would ask for instruction on using doublestops musically within basslines.

An hour would not even scratch the surface - but if I had an hour with Chuck, I think I would like to get my head around his muting and fanning techniques.

I would ask about his marketing genius as the guy has probably made more money from endorsement deals than actually playing..

I watched the Superbowl with Chuck this year. It was free, but I think I might have paid for the privilege looking back at it.

Have you seen his credits. Not that that necessarily means anything, but I would guess he's done a little more work than most of us have.

Haha, no kidding! He has played everything with everyone!!!! Just look at his recording artist credits : http://www.chuckrainey.com/artists.htm

Yes, I was picking on the man because he has so many endorsement deals, but honestly I feel he deserves every one.

+1

Pictured this month in Bass Player magazine with a lovely Spector bass and a Genz Benz amp...

I'd just try and absorb some of his skill through spiritual osmosis, and ask him to play his Warrior and Ken Smith basses for my enjoyment!

I've hung out with him at the Bass Centre in LA, when I was waiting for my lessons with Jeff Berlin. He's a REALLY nice guy, and humble, too. Makes you feel very much at ease. Anyone who takes advantage of this offer will get a world of advice and trust me, it'll take WEEKS to absorb it all! I wish I could take off work to do it, but my services are needed here...

I spent a week with him at the Wooten camp over the summer, Chuck taught some of the classes that week. He is a really cool guy. And one hell of a musician. He also likes to talk....alot. check out my pics at myspace.com/cms_85 I have a few pics of/with him and some of the others.

I would pay 100 bucks, just to hang with him and be able to hear whatever he wants to talk about for an hour. Are 85 bucks too much for a class with the living legend CHUCK RAINEY? C'mon!!!

(i get paid in Bolivares, the conversion rate to American Dollars can be cruel, but i STILL think 85 bucks is nothing for what you get in that particular case)

+1. I'd pay it to hear anecdotes about his Steely Dan recording experience, and I'd spring for some SERIOUS Italian food and rare grapes to round out the conversation. But.....I'm an hour north of Lake Placid....so I'll eat and drink with someone else :-)

To me, something just doesn't look right unless Rainey is playing a P-bass.

It's coming along fine as I'm working on it between my crazy schedule Jim and I'm close to finishing up some major aspects of the music section.

Don't get me wrong here, I LOVE Chuck Rainey.
And have a world of respect for the man and could only imagine to be able to do what he does.

But 1 hour. $85??
Umm....no.
